Smells like roses.

First of all, IMO, Writer's Block is the Bogeyman. Doesn't exist.
Problem is, most people can't get it out of their heads. Sleeping with the closet door locked til you're 40 is not the solution.
Now, I'm no novelist, I have no deadlines to meet, and I don't rely on my writing to provide income. So you're welcome to tell me to take my opinion and stuff it. I don't mind.
What I do though, is write every day. Whether I want to or not. Even if I have nothing to write about. One of my Blogit blogs is called "Inspiration For Sale". Every single post there is the beginning, or part of a story. None of them go together, there's no continuity. Just bits that sound good and go nowhere- "It was a dark and stormy night..." -that type of crap.
You have to write through, around, over, in spite of. Write about something else. Keep a diary. Make lists of interesting and useless words. [boondoggling].
Write fragmented and aimless blog posts.

I don't know about that. I mean, yes, definitely, by all means continue to write. But I think it does exist, especially if writing is a part of your job, and you have deadlines to face. I think, if you've been writing something huge, like a novel or a thesis, writer's block comes with the territory. But, don't step aside from it from it too quickly. Even if it means pulling it out every morning, every evening, or just before you go to bed- do it. Try to write even just one sentence. But there's no sense in just spilling crap out in regards to that particular subject matter. It's a waste of paper. So then, maybe it is time to take a step back. Give it a week. Let it marinate for a bit, but not too long. It's amazing how much time lends to perspective. Sometimes you just need to see it from a different angle that's impossible to see when you've been staring at it in the face for so long.

oh, and that external link thing... you can use it to send your reader to a related website/page or another one of your blog entries that has something to do with what you wrote in the past. Or you can just not use it. It is optional.

Peace.

Oh, thanks for answering my question!
What I meant, about "writing anyway", was that sometimes it's helpful, to write something else entirely. To put your project on the back burner, but keep your mind working.

You do have a good point though.. I wasn't disagreeing with you.
